The strategic plan (Renstra) of the Master of Soil Science Study Program is a development plan for the Soil Science Study Program in the next five years to achieve the vision of the Master of Soil Science Study Program, supporting the vision of the Faculty of Agriculture and Andalas University in general. The Strategic Plan of the Master of Soil Science Study Program is an elaboration of the Strategic Plan of the Faculty of Agriculture and also the Strategic Plan of Andalas University. The Master of Soil Science Study Program is no longer faced with problems and challenges that are local and national in scale, but already at the international level. Therefore, the Strategic Plan of the Master of Soil Science Study Program was prepared for the development of a Master of Soil Science Study Program that not only excels at the local, national, but also at the international level.
The preparation of the Strategic Plan for the Master of Soil Science Study Program involves the lecturer team directly, and considers input from alumni, stakeholders (agencies / companies) and pays attention to both internal and external issues. These issues are raised by reviewing social, economic, political, geographical, technological aspects, as well as the development of soil science itself. Currently, the Strategic Plan of the Soil Science Study Program is outlined in the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan.
Vision of Soil Science Master Program:
"To become a superior Soil Science Study Program in tropical marginal land studies at the INTERNATIONAL level in 2028"
["Excellent"] means reputable in higher education in the field of tropical marginal land at the INTERNATIONAL level. This reputation is shown by the production of competitive graduates in order to support the nation's independence in the field of sustainable tropical marginal land management.
Mission of Master of Soil Science Study Program:
Organizing education to produce competent and superior scholars in the field of tropical marginal land.
Organizing research and development in the field of tropical marginal land to support sustainable agricultural science and technology.
Carrying out community service in the field of tropical marginal land to support the achievement of sustainable agriculture
Carrying out cooperation with government and private institutions at home and abroad in the field of tropical marginal land.
Goals of Master of Soil Science Study Program:
Producing graduates who are professional in the field of tropical marginal land to realize sustainable agriculture
Producing quality research in the field of tropical marginal land to support science and technology in sustainable agriculture.
To help solve problems in the government, private sector, and communities/farmers, especially in the management of tropical marginal lands.
To collaborate with government and private institutions, both nationally and internationally in tropical marginal land management.
The Master of Soil Science study program is included in the Indonesian Agricultural College Communication Forum network which aims to always communicate in terms of curriculum improvement and graduate quality. The Master of Soil Science study program organizes lecture systems by course and by research. Both curricula are oriented towards student competence in tropical marginal land management. The minimum number of credits to pass the Master of Soil Science is 36 credits both by course and by research.
