The admission selection of prospective new students of the UNAND Soil Science Undergraduate Program refers to: 1) Permenistekdikti No. 126 of 2016 concerning Admission of New Undergraduate Students at State Universities; and 2) UNAND Rector Regulation No. 3 of 2016 concerning Academic Regulations of Andalas University.

Selection of new students for the soil science study program is carried out through 3 channels:

1. National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP);
2. National Selection Based on Test (SNBT);
3. Unand Independent Entrance Selection (SIMA), with categories of Academic SIMA, Achievement SIMA, Cooperation SIMA, Disabled SIMA, and International SIMA.

The process of selection and admission of new students is carried out by taking into account the principles of fairness, accountability, transparency, and non-discrimination by not distinguishing between gender, religion, ethnicity, race, social position, and the level of economic ability of prospective students and still paying attention to the potential of prospective students and the specificity of universities. The number of students accepted is based on the capacity of each pathway, which is 20% of the SNBP pathway, 30% of the SNBT pathway, and 45% of the SIMA pathway.
